To Tattoo or Not to Tattoo - That is the Expensive Question
Cosmetic tattooing, microblading and semi-permanently colouring your face is a big decision. It IS expensive, and it IS your face. So, is it worth it?
The short answer is “absolutely”! But what are the benefits and what am I paying for?
Cosmetic tattooing may be suitable if:
You have sparse eyebrows or fair features.
You do not have much of an eyebrow left, want to give your lip colour a refresh or make your eyes more defined with a touch of eyeliner.
You would like to correct certain facial asymmetries.
You wear glasses and can’t see properly to apply makeup.
You have undergone medical treatment and lost your eyebrows.
You are active and exercise or swim a lot. No smudging!
You are a busy professional who is always time poor and on the go.
You are a mum who simply doesn’t have time or energy to apply perfect makeup every day.
You travel a lot and don’t want to pack loads of makeup each time.
But why is it so expensive?
A quality cosmetic tattoo artist has undergone extensive training to ensure you can trust that your face is in professional, experienced hands – and this is expensive. A cosmetic tattooing treatment is classified as an “open skin procedure”. Therefore, the treatment room has to meet strict fit out requirements and the premises and your cosmetic tattooist must also be licensed. A ‘Maintain Infection Control Standards in Office Practice Settings’ license for your tattooist and a ‘Higher Risk Personal Appearance Service’ License for the premises. Don’t be afraid to ask to see these!
At A HINT OF INK everything is disposable and everything is sterile. We only use premium quality equipment and our pigments:
are stable - offering long-lasting colour retention
are Gamma-ray sterilised
are Cruelty-Free
are certified vegan
contain no animal by-products
On average, each client receives our undivided attention for 4 hours (2x 2hr appointments). On top of that, everything needs to be sterilised and disinfected for the set-up beforehand and again sterilised and disinfected for the clean-up afterwards. This is extremely important, but also very time consuming.
When it comes to your face, there is no cheap deal! Do your research, ask questions, speak to people and get recommendations. You can then go in to your appointment with the confidence that you are in the hands of a professional who will enhance your beauty and do so in a safe way.
